Today was so fantastic. We woke up at 5am, to much inward mumbling, yet still excited. After waiting in our lobby, we got on the bus about 6am, and got off about 9,30am. We didn't see the wall for ages, leading us to wonder if the term Great is a misnomer, and it is atually a "slightly inadequate wall".
It was SO cold when we got to Jinshaling (the starting point of our hike), that were a little bit apprehensive about the coming walk. We started walking up these seemingly infinite stairs, until we came to to the top, and just went "Wow!".
The wall stretches as far as you can see, and it is sourrounded by mountains in every direction. I straight away tried to take a picture, which wouldn't work, so Flic and I spent ages trying to fix it, so I could take photos. Finally we worked it out, and realised that half the group had disappeared ahead!
Walking it is so fantastic - in many places it is so steep that you have to basically hold on to the step ahead of you. Me being scared of heights was interesting, but I managed it.We were quite shocked at the temperature.
Because we were doing so much hard exercise, and the sun was strong, we were hot, but it was minus temperatures, and we realised how cold it was when we opened our water and it had started to freeze, and had ice floating in it!!
We got to walk over this wonderful little bridge, with clear greenish water inbetween the mountains, was so beautiful. After eating in aresturant near the wall, we got the tour bus home, and had a shower.
